“Tattoo Shop Offers Free Cover Ups of Hate and Gang Symbols, ‘No Questions Asked'”

A tattoo shop in Kentucky offers to cover up hate or gang symbols for free. Artists Jeremiah and Ryun King consider ideas offered by the client, but the artists have the final say in the design. I can only imagine the imaginative creativity that goes into some cover ups. You can read more about the shop and some of their clients here. 

 

Atlantic Coast Pipeline Cancelled

After six years of opposition from environmental advocates and landowners, the Atlantic Coast Pipeline has been cancelled. The 600 mile natural gas line would have crossed under the Appalachian Trail and run through West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina.  Dominion Energy and Duke Energy announced the project is being cancelled due to “increasing legal uncertainty.”  You can read more from msn.com.

In a related story, a US federal judge has ordered a shut down and environmental review of the 1,172-mile Dakota Access Pipeline running just north of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The Standing Rock Tribe and advocates have been protesting and taking legal action against the oil pipeline which is located near their homes and water source. Read more from CBS News. 

 

Indonesian Fishermen Rescue Stranded  Refugees

Rohingya refugees escaping atrocities in Myanmar were rescued from their sinking boat by fishermen this week before being intercepted by maritime officials. Officials in the Indonesian province of Aceh initially refused to allow the 94 refugees, including 30 children, to come ashore “citing coronavirus concerns.” But locals “took matters into their own hands”  by using their own boats to bring the group to shore. Due to local protests, authorities ended up letting the refugees receive temporary shelter in private residences and medical checks.

Hug Tunnels and Cuddle Curtains

This article from the Good News Network is about a hug tunnel created in senior care facility in Brazil. The plastic tunnel allows people in the facility to hug their loved ones while being protected. The article  includes beautiful hug photos and the following sweet video. The video that came up after the great grandma hugs showed a man who used a shower curtain to create a safe hug zone.
