Petrichor: the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil.
…
That smell I love so much,
When the rain first kisses the earth,
is more than a chemical reaction.
It’s the smell of the earth’s love for rain,
Strongest in the heat of summer
When the earth yearns for relief.
When the rain first kisses the earth
She giggles, then sighs,
and calls to me:
Come! Dance in the rain.
“I relaxed inside, nursing my baby girl and listening to the big kids sing silly songs in the rain. It was like a slice of heaven on earth.”
