“Give Peace to Every Heart” and “A Groovy Kinda Love”

Bee’s post about Ukraine inspired me to change my plans a bit today and start with this Taize song. I hope to sing it at church soon, alternating with the English, “Give Peace to Every Heart.” Maybe I can find someone to accompany me.

Now, for the song I had planned for today:

Originally recorded by American vocalists, Diane and Annita in 1965, “A Groovy Kind of Love” was a hit in 1966 sung by the UK group, The Mindbenders. Many people have recorded this dreamy song, but I like how Phil Collins sings it in this rehearsal with Melody Dylem

She Got Bit by a God

A couple of weeks ago, my daughter texted me, “I got bit by a god.”

“You got bit by a god?” I texted back realizing she probably meant dog since she works in doggie day care/ boarding.

She got nipped while breaking up a fight. Fortunately, it was not a bad bite and did not need medical attention. Some dogs are troublemakers. We love ’em anyway, kinda like God loves us. I’m thankful that God rarely bites me and mostly just nudges.

The God and Dog thing reminds me of a song I love and consider it a love song, so I’m offering it for Bee’s

This song fits a couple of her prompt categories including, a song that isn’t a love song, but I think it’s a love song from Feb. 10. Thanks, Bee for being flexible. For more on “Love is in Da Blog” click HERE.

Healing a Broken Heart: Shower

Jumping back in with Bee’s “Love is in Da Blog” I went to one of my favorite singer/songwriters, James Taylor and listened more closely to “Shower the People.”

“Tell me how can you stand there with your broken heart, ashamed of playin’ the fool?”

One remedy for a broken heart is to shower the people you love with love.

“Oh, Father, mother, sister, brother, if it feels nice, don’t think twice.”

“If it feels nice,” is important. We don’t have to shower toxic people we love with love, because we don’t want to get that close to them. We can love them from a distance and wish them well. But the people who are good for us – those are the ones we can shower with love. We can extend this love showering to ourselves and the dogs, cats, and divine being(s) who love us no matter what. We can shower with kind words, quality time, a small favor, hugs, smiles, gratitude….. you name it!

How do you want to shower love?

Here’s a shower from me to you:

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love is in da Blog 2020: Travel (with my Favorite Beatles Song)

Maybe I’m late, but better late than never to jump into Love is in da blog.

The prompt: Love that travels or a love song about travel

First I thought about Carole King’s “So Far Away,” reminding me of my high school sweetheart moving 700 miles away in 1972. But then I thought about one of my favorite songs, the song about him coming back to me in 2011.

“The Long and Winding Road,” is easily about a returning love. It could also be about my spiritual journey. Great songs have room for interpretation making them universal, epic. That’s how I feel about this song.

Little Love Gifts

Heart box in grass

“God has planned little gifts along the way to brighten our day, and sometimes big delightful surprises – perfectly timed, perfect for us.”

Melody Beattie, The Language of Letting Go. February 2.

I just had to share this  quote from today’s daily meditation. It fits well with my story in Trust the Timing, which I’ll be giving away as an e book on Goodreads starting February 12.

The quote sorta also goes with Bee’s prompt, Adoration, on Love is in Da Blog, because God adores us so much we get these little love gifts – like spectacular sunsets, flowers growing in unexpected places, and hugs. It’s not always easy to see the gifts. We might have to look in new ways and in new places, but they are there to encourage us and give us hope.
