The Big Hairy Floater

The big hairy floater showed up in my right eye some time last week. It’s a much bigger than any of the floaters I’d seen before. It wouldn’t wash out with eye wash. Then I saw little flashes to my right when we took our evening walk with the dogs.

So I looked up eye motes and flashes on the internet, reading enough to scare myself.

The anxiety grew, as I repeatedly shushed it. My friend suggested I journal about the fear. Here’s the result:

I’ve just started to put legs under my dream of being an artist and a writer. I’ve just found my muse again after all these years of dormant creativity, and now, and now…… what if……?

More and more of my job that pays the bills (for now but not forever) involves looking at a computer screen. I want to use my eyes to paint…

I am passing on a link that I saw on the EngAGE blog this morning about the photographer Flo Fox who has Multiple Sclerosis, is now paralyzed, and is legally blind but able to take wonderful photos. For the past 40 years her subject has been New York City.
