SoCS: Pushing Through and Ready for Healing

Our prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “starts with or contains ‘cel.’” Find a word that begins with or contains “cel” and use it in your post any way you’d like. Have fun!

The more tired I am, the more I forget where I put my cell phone. It’s been a strange couple of days out of the ordinary with back spasms, a visit from my son and granddaughter and our church artisan fair scheduled for Saturday. My cell phone got lost at least five times in the past week. It’s always in the house, and sometimes hiding in my purse, except for last week when I left it at choir practice. It always turns up eventually. Doctor/nurse practitioner wrote me a rx for a muscle relaxer and said it’s okay to take four ibuprofen, just not on an empty stomach. Maybe that will be enough to get me through the artisan fair for which I have reserved a table to share my wares and creations. We shall see…..

I wrote the above Friday. Made it through the artisan fair. My back pain was manageable. We had a good turnout, and I sold several pieces of art. Now it’s Saturday evening, and all I want to do is sleep after watching some easy TV.

There’s a meditation that a reiki practitioner gave me a few years ago. There were four steps which I don’t entirely recall, but the first line was, “I am open at the cellular level.” The rest of it included, expanding and then releasing, probably with some deep breathing along the way. Looking forward to some rest, cellular healing and releasing the tension in my back. I might not even make it to church tomorrow. Who knows? Was the push through worth it? I think so.

I’ll probably be slow in responding here on WP. It will take a while to catch up, but I could not, not do SoCS.

One of the pieces I sold today was a print I’ve had for a while. It was a zoom and crop of a bigger piece painted on wood.

Guardian Angel

I also sold some mermaids and mimosa angel ornaments like these:

  3. So happy with you that your art pieces sold well. Sounds like you have a sound plan for some rest. May it come peacefully.

  4. I am sorry to read that your back is so troublesome, JoAnna

  5. Hope you are better soon. The ornaments and the paintings look good. Take care.

  6. Thank you for sharing!!.. sometimes in the excitement of new adventures the mind and heart forget about the body, but the body has a way of reminding us it is time to stop, relax and reboot… hope you get to feeling better soon… 🙂
I do meditation (similar to yoga only setting in a chair) and a version of Tai Chi…. 🙂
Glad all went well at the artisan fair and someone was fortunate to have your treasures.. 🙂

    Until we meet again…
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
    wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
    with joy that long endures.
    May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

    • Thank you very much for you good wishes, Larry. My body gets better at reminding me to stop and relax. I used to go to a chair yoga class at the senior center. It’s always good to include meditation.

  7. Reiki is a wonderful healing art. I practice a little qigong healing and energy healing. It is wonderful that we can heal at a cellular level. Get some rest.

  8. Sending you best wishes for freeing up the muscles in your back 🙂

  9. Forgetting where I put my cell phone. I can definitely relate 🙂

  10. Hiii – I absolutely love those angel ornaments!! How did you make them? And I too suffer from some back issues…it has been my spiritual antennae so to speak…if I am to stressed she lets me know. I nursed a ruptured disc with no surgery or medication with water and walking. It still lets me know if I am doing to much or if I am out of wack in my thinking. It had me in fear for such a long time but now I have accepted its messages and it makes it wayyyy easier to bear.
The physical pain is like no other I have ever experienced – It holds all of the nerves – it is looking to be listened to! ha ha! It’s the boss so to speak.
Rest and listen and create those angels!! And please let me know how you make them if you can.

    • The angels are mimosa “cookies” or cross sections my husband cut from a large branch. After cutting the slices, he puts tung oil on them which makes them a little darker. (some other oil might work too.) Then I paint the angels with white acrylic paint and a small firm brush. I let the rings of the wood inspire me as to the shapes and paint on both sides. Then my husband drills a hole on top for hanging. I used to spray with sealant, but I’ve discovered the bark sometimes separates over time, so I’ve started brushing them with mod podge after the angels have dried completely. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with back pain. My body has gotten better at sending me messages…. or maybe I’ve gotten better at listening. Stress does play a big role. I’m praying for your healing asking angels to wrap their wings around you for peace and comfort.
