One Liner Wednesday on Friends and Enemies

“It pays to know the enemy,

not least because at some time

you may have the opportunity

to turn him (or her) into a friend.”

Margaret Thatcher

With this quote, I’m thinking of the election ads flooding my mailbox and TV currently in the US and how polarizing people can be. We might not make friends but knowing our enemy could possibly reveal common ground which gives us a better chance of coexisting with peace and understanding. Let’s give peace a chance. Let’s at least try to be civil. (I’m reminding myself.)

  1. I have to remind myself every day. It gets harder and harder.

  2. I agree with your sentiments on politics… “Let’s at least try to be civil.”

  3. I’ve already mailed in my ballot. The mail is unrelenting with propaganda.

  4. No one seems to run on the promise of working well with others. I thought we covered that in 1st grade.

  5. A timely and much-needed message, JoAnna!

  6. Thank you for sharing!!. I don’t look at another as the enemy but someone who is different from me, in thought and deed, and I will simply take a brief period of time to process what I have learned and make decisions accordingly… “Any piece of knowledge I acquire today has a value at this moment exactly proportioned to my skill to deal with it. Tomorrow, when I know more, I will recall that piece of knowledge and use it better. “ (Mark van Doren )… 🙂

    Until we meet again..
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
    wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
    with joy that long endures.
    May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
    (Irish Saying)
