My friend Mary who is a pediatrician nudged me to get vaccinated early this year. I wasn’t in any hurry and might not have even been vaccinated if she hadn’t nudged me early on with a link to a local clinic. I wanted to see what happened. I knew from my side effects to the flu shot, that my side effects to the covid vaccine were likely to be significant, and they were. But now, I’m glad I got the shots.
Saturday I dropped some school supplies off to a community organizer. We chatted in her living room without masks. I had mine in my pocket, but knew we’d both been vaccinated. She offered me a hug as I was about to leave, and I accepted warmly. Not sorry about that. But maybe it wouldn’t have hurt to wear a mask. I found out yesterday that she tested positive for covid. I think she’s okay, but her daughter is in the hospital.
I’ve heard of a lot of people who were vaccinated testing positive for covid, but their symptoms are mild compared to people who have not been vaccinated. My friend who tested positive but was NOT vaccinated has been in ICU for three weeks and on a ventilator. He is ten years younger than me. He’s also a wonderful person who has done a lot for the community. God, I hope he’s going to be okay. Lots of people are praying.
I am thankful for my doctor friend nudging me to get vaccinated. I’m feeling okay, recovering from plantar fascitis and a pulled muscle in my back. My body is good at healing, if maybe slower than it used to be. Still, I think I’m going to lay low, take it easy, and wear my mask when I go anywhere. Life is precious.
Some of these photos are from the farm animal sanctuary where I prepare lunch on Thursdays.
Our Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday was: “my.” Start your post with the word “My.” Bonus points if you end your post with “yours.” Enjoy!

It is such a scary time, JoAnna. We do all we can to stay safe. There was a time before the Delta variant we felt we could be around vaccinated friends and be safe. It is sadly not the case any longer. I will pray for your friend’s full recovery. Sending you lots of positive thoughts.

Thank you very much, Maggie. Your prayers and positive thoughts are much appreciated. My friend’s name is Wayne.

Life is precious., JoAnna. I think that’s all we really need to remind ourselves of. Of course, we need to extend that to include every life.
August 28, 2021 at 12:47 pm
Yes! Every life. Thank you Dan.
August 28, 2021 at 11:02 am
JoAnna, I’ll say a prayer for your friend. Far to many people have been affected greatly by this pandemic through illness or loss of life. I’ll pray he makes a full recovery.

Thank you very much, Mary. I appreciate your prayers for Wayne. Stay well.

My younger daughter just had her second shot, and had a fairly severe reaction. That is nothing compared to getting covid! I am glad she was finally over her cold and able to get the shot. Hope your friend fully recovers very soon.
I enjoyed this post, JoAnna. Endearing photos of the animals! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend! 🙂

Thanks so much for your support and hopes, Cheryl. I’m glad your daugther was able to get the shot. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, too! 🙂

We all masked whether vaccinated or not. We finally felt a little sense of normalcy, yet things all slowly slipping back to the same times we had last year. All I know to do is trust God, and know He knows all. Blessings 💕🥰

Thank you, Lisa. Trusting God is always best. ❤ 🙂

Prayers for your friend as well! God be with Him! 🙏🏻

Love your Girl At The Beach photo!
August 28, 2021 at 3:44 pm
Thanks! I’m glad you love it. It’s been waiting on my phone to be shared.

I’ve also been going without a mask when chatting with neighbors who have also been vaccinated. But, as has happened with your friend having tested positive, we’ve still got to remain vigilant. I join you in prayer for your friend’s daughter as well as for your other friend in the ICU.
August 28, 2021 at 3:45 pm
Thank you so much, Rosaliene.

I’m glad you got vaccinated. We got Covid and it was a mild case because we are vaccinated. Fortunately my toddler had only a mild case. Using all the precautions is a good idea. Sending positive healing energy to your friend.
August 28, 2021 at 3:46 pm
Thank you so much, Ka. I’m glad you and your family are okay and only had mild symptoms.

Happy Saturday and thanks for these lovely pictures. You look pretty in your angel mask. I wear my masks everywhere and I will until the WHO says the pandemic is over. I don’t trust our government in that respect. A co-worker of ours was double vaccinated and got it and they say immunisation gets less after 6 weeks. I’d rather be safe than sorry 🤗
August 28, 2021 at 3:55 pm
Thanks, Bee. I realize now that I need to be more careful. So many vaccinated people are testing positive. I’m glad you’re being careful and safe.
August 28, 2021 at 3:58 pm
It is so easy to be complacent and the needed measures are so uncomfortable. Even though working in a laundry I have come to appreciate masks: you smell a lot less of the bad odours 🤣
August 28, 2021 at 11:33 pm
I don’t really mind wearing a mask, excpet when trying to sing or exercise. I had just gotten out of the habit with vaccinated people. Doing better now.
August 28, 2021 at 4:19 pm
Stay safe and well 💜

Thank you very much! Your too! ❤

Yes. Do be careful. Mask always. Prayers for your friends. Sending you a hug.

Thank you so much, Chandra. Hugs to you.

Hugs back!

I contracted Covid as I was recovering from abdominal surgery. Luckily, it did not manifest as respiratory, for the most part. I never had to go to the hospital, but it’s been 6 months and I’m still feeling the effects. I came out of Covid with the new diagnoses of diabetes, peripheral neuropathy and high cholesterol. These are the things no one mentions on the news.
Hope you heal up !
August 28, 2021 at 11:49 pm
Wow! You’ve been through a lot. I’m very glad covid didn’t manifest as respiratory much. I’m sending prayers and good vibes for continued healing. ❤

Thank you!

Yeah. Good call. I got mine in April. Our doc suggested it since my folks are both suffering from underlying conditions. I plan on getting the booster when it comes out and the flu shot. My count is on fire with infections. This delta variant is not playing around.
August 28, 2021 at 11:58 pm
After the side effects I experienced from my 2 Moderna shots, I didn’t think I’d want a booster, but I’m starting to reconsider. I hope you and your folks stay safe and as well as can be.
August 29, 2021 at 12:13 am
Thanks. We got the Moderna one as well. You too!!
August 29, 2021 at 11:45 pm
I understand. I’m happy for you that you chose vaccination. It was nice for us for a minute with all the adults in our immediate family vaccinated. But I have eight grandchildren; and with 6 of them under the age of 12 we have had to be more cautious again with the new variant. Sigh…take care and be wise.
August 30, 2021 at 8:24 pm
Yes, there was a brief sigh of relief. Now we do need to be more cautious. I hope all the children and adults in your family stay well and safe.
August 31, 2021 at 12:29 am
Thank you. We will.
August 30, 2021 at 12:11 am
The animals looks so sweet. I think I would be upset if I found out I was exposed to COVID but it is good you are vaccinated. We are getting ready for boosters as well. This Delta variant is not something to take lightly.
August 30, 2021 at 8:27 pm
The animals are mostly very sweet, though a couple of them have issues which is understandable. I was a bit uspset when I first found out, but so far, I’m feeling okay. I hope the boosters go well.
August 31, 2021 at 12:53 am
The way things are going with the epidemic in this country, we will probably need boosters for our boosters. At least if these vaccine resisters have anything to do with it. They will just go on spreading it around.
August 31, 2021 at 10:05 pm
Sigh.

Thank you for sharing a part of your world, like the photos, especially the “girl on the beach”..perhaps she is contemplating all her tomorrows?… :)… I have been vaccinated and I still wear a mask when in public places.. I feel wearing a mask is no different than wearing a hat to protect from the sun, putting a coat on in the winter, etc… 🙂
Until we meet again..
May you always be blessed
with walls for the wind,
a roof for the rain,
a warm cup of tea by the fire,
laughter to cheer you,
those you love near you,
and all that your heart might desire.

Thanks, Larry. Those are good comparisons of the hat and coat. Stay safe and well!
