My daughter just turned 26. Sometimes she’s more available by text. I texted her about my yoga class at the senior center.
Daughter: Lol why do you go the the senior center? Are you ACTUALLY considered a senior now?
Me: (My friend from high school) got me to sign up with her. The senior center is for people 55 and older. I’m 63.
Daughter: At what age are people considered seniors?
Me: It’s a gray area. Lol.
Daughter: LOL that’s a good one.
We have some good conversations via text. But I still prefer to see her in person so I can kiss her cheek.

Love this. Love that your daughter still sees you as βnot yet a seniorβ. I agree with the cheek kissing β and the hugs are nice, too.

Yep. Hugs are nice. Sometimes hugs make the cheek kissing easier. Texting can’t compare.

I have been a “senior” a couple years longer than you JoAnna, but sometimes the consideration isn’t welcome. I exchange a lot of texts with our daughter. Sometimes, the laughs arrive at the perfect time.

Laughs do seem come easily when texting with my daughter. It feels lighthearted a lot of the time.

I still prefer those kisses on the cheek, too! I do the text thing because I have to (my daughter is 27). I also send her funny Snapchats and she sends them in return, but we’ve learned not to open them in public. LOL! Thank you for sharing your precious conversation with your daughter!

I don’t do snapchat, but visuals are so much fun. Thanks for understanding.

JoAnna my daughter is turning 26 June 29th. We have funny conversations via text too. I really love their sense of humor! That’s so funny about the senior thing. I’ll be turning 55 this year and just realized I’m old enough for AARP. LOL So funny to me. I forget how old I am sometimes. LOL

I forget sometimes too. Though some days my body reminds me. π We will stay young at heart.

LOL, lovely conversation JoAnna, my daughter couldn’t believe I was 65 back in May, I said well you are now are 42 this year also lol.. Neither of us feel our Ages either..
But Senior comes in handy as we get cheaper Cinema tickets π and entrance fees to events. lol..
And yes while communicating via text is great, a Hug and a Kiss is much nicer..
Love and Hugs your way JoAnna. β€

Two years ago I signed up to attend our local senior center, but never attended. My sister, two years younger, refused to join me. You’ll get old before your time, she told me.

I don’t know if I would have gone unless my friend got me to go. In my previous yoga class I was usually the oldest person there. Most of the people in my senior yoga class seem my age or older but but it’s a vibrant group. I feel more comfortable there and go more often. And it’s half the cost.

I’m finding that sending surprise texts to my 13 yr old can be a way to make her giggle without making her feel like “mooooooommmm, I’m busy!!”. π
June 5, 2019 at 10:45 pm
Yep. I like texting. π
