Toronto has a Pay What You Can Grocery Store! Chef Jagger Gordon and his volunteer team “rescue” food that would otherwise thrown away. When the store, Feed it Forward, has leftovers, the volunteers take it to the street to distribute. Imagine if every city had a Pay What You Can grocery store!
#WATWB is a monthly blogfest promoting positive efforts around the world.

That’s marvelous, JoAnna.
There needs to be enough legal protection that more people could do that. (I can imagine the people, waiting for a chance to sue someone, and ruin it for those in need.)
Hugs.

So many things to consider. They mentioned the “good Samaritan” law as protection. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing. I’m sure it would be complicated in the US, though not impossible.

This was an awesome idea by its creators and I would love to see this spread across Canada, the U.S. and the world. We need more people like this to take care of those who have a hard time making ends meet in a regular grocery store. Thanks for sharing this, Joanna, and participating in #WATWB.

Hi JoAnna – what a great idea … in fact two ideas … the pay what you can, and then not wasting anything by taking what’s left out into the streets … great generous opportunity by Jagger Gordon and his pay what you can from rescued food. Thanks for letting us know about him – cheers Hilary

A great initiative to help people to buy food at prices they can afford and also raising awareness about food wastage. A win-win situation. Hope this initiative is adopted by more number of people and places. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story, JoAnna!
