Good News Tuesday: Saving Lives in Dallas, A Husky Makes it Home, and a Grateful Reunion with a Veteran

A Team Effort Saves Lives in Dallas Apartment Fire

Quick thinking by neighbors and first responders saved the lives of everyone in this raging apartment fire.

Rain in California

Yes, the rain in California could increase risk of mudslides and complicate searches, but it also brings relief from devastating fire and hope for healing. I didn’t find a news story about the rain that didn’t give equal or more attention to the risk of mudslides. It’s a real risk, but can we just take a minute be thankful for the rain?

A Husky Named Sinatra Makes it Home

Sinatra the Husky disappeared from his home in New York some time after his human sibling, 16 year old Zion, was killed. He was found in Florida 18 months later by another teenager. We don’t know how Sinatra got from New York to Florida. But I can’t help but wonder if he was looking for Zion. His rescuers and friends of the family made sure he got home. It’s a touching story.

Thanksgiving to a Veteran, to All Veterans:

Thanksgiving is not over. We can give thanks every day.  Donna Caye wrote a letter of thanks in 1970 to a soldier serving in Vietnam. She recently got to tell him thank you again in person.

Good News Tuesday seeks to add a touch of balance, one Tuesday at a time.

What’s your good news?

  1. Thank you JoAnna, it is all so joyful and loving.

  2. Feel good stories are what make my day. I loved the story of the husky being found and reunited with his family. They were so happy. Miracles happen every day and it really was a miracle that the husky came up to the y0ung lady in Florida. Some one stole that dog and he subsequently ran away or got away from whoever had him.

I like all the stories. Nice endings to all of them.

    • Miracles happen every day is right. I remember many years ago one of my dogs squeezed out of the gate during a thunder storm. He was gone for 3 days and I feared the worst. I went out in the back yard and prayed hard. We left the gate open for him. The next day, he was in the front yard with slight limp. I wonder if someone had taken him in and he escaped to come home. I’m glad you enjoyed the stories.

  3. I love these. My good news is personal – my sister fell in love and got engaged and is ready to share her life with someone again. I think love after divorce is a leap of faith and I’m so happy for her. 😊

    • Yay! I can relate to the leap of faith. David and I asked each other a lot of personal questions when were dating the second time with much more wisdom. Congratulations to your sister! 🙂

  4. It is important to remember that there are good things happening out there in the midst of the gloom and doom of our everyday news cycle. Nice post … thank you!
