This week Awesome Stories brings you gratitude, compassion, and environmental stewardship.

Compassion

This is one of the most touching stories I’ve seen recently, especially as it highlights a very personal and powerful example of using communication consciously and compassionately as I promote so often on my blog. Sarah Silverman recently received a very harsh and ugly comment on her twitter feed. As a comedian known for her sharp wit and words, it’s amazing how she chose to respond. Sarah responded with compassionate and sympathetic tweets that started a whole conversation that the man says helped change his life. She recognized the pain under his rage and choose empathy as the way forward. She wrote  “All I know is this rage — and even if you could kill him— it’s punishing yourself. And you don’t deserve punishment. You deserve support.” Then she used her network to help find the man support…
