Program Nurtures Young Men in Baltimore #WATWB

Project Pneuma strives to teach young men and boys “the art of forgiveness, self-control and discipline while giving them exposure to a new world of endless possibilities.” I was intrigued and encouraged by this program’s holistic approach incorporating martial arts, yoga, meditation, and love.

“The Mission of Project Pneuma is to Breathe New Life holistically into the young men we serve by challenging them intellectually, strengthening them physically, nurturing them emotionally and uplifting them spiritually.”

  1. This is the sort of initiative we need more of, in order to break vicious negative cycles of violence, and start positive ones of peace and collaboration. Thanks for sharing, JoAnna!

  2. I can’t speak to Yoga, but I’ve always found martial arts to be good for calming the beast. It’s ironic that a practice that teaches violence has fewer people willing to commit violence.

  3. This can only be applauded JoAnna, thank you for sharing it! In full agreement with Damyanti’s comment. Have a great weekend. 🙂

  4. What a heart-warming and inspiring story JoAnna! An initiative like this gives me such great hope, and I hope inspires other communities to undertake similiar programs. Committment to our youth can only bring good things, and the need is so great. Thanks so much for sharing this one.

  5. So needed! Glad to see initiatives like this!

  6. I love this! Those men genuinely care about each of the boys and where they end up in life. I also love that they are working with the police officers who might have run into some of them in bad circumstances, had they not had this program. Great find, JoAnna!

  7. This is a wonderful program. We need more like this one.

  8. I really love the idea of this holistic approach to healing which targets the whole being.
We definitely need to invest in more of these rehabilitative programmes.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. 🙂
