“If it don’t fit, don’t force it.”
( From Trust the Timing, A Memoir of Finding Love Again.)
I first heard this expression many years ago from a co-worker who is in recovery. The lesson became clear at the end of my second rebound when I realized my boyfriend and I were like two puzzle pieces that just didn’t fit together.
Can you think of a situation where trying to force something didn’t work?

I usually give up trying to force something to work and look for alternatives. When our children were younger we used to put those puzzles together as a family project. We gave up trying to force the pieces together early on but when we couldn’t find a piece after looking all over for it we tended to think that the piece must be lost or missing. We couldn’t imagine it being one of those pieces in plain sight until it showed up.

Sometimes those pieces hide! 🙂 Life is like that, too. 🙂 But it does give a sense of satisfaction when they do fit.

Great one liner and yes I can think of many times I’ve tried to make it fit!!! I’m getting better at letting that go. 😀💚

Just about every situation that doesn’t seem to arise naturally – even getting out of bed on some days is better supported by some kind coaxing 🙂

Coaxing is nice. I like coaxing. 🙂
