I’m sharing two versions of this song from the early 1970s. “Freedom for the Stallion,” has a smooth sound and powerful lyrics written by Allen Toussaint. Here’s my favorite line, timely as ever:
Oh, Lord, you got to help us find the way

Yes. Very nice. And just for interest sake.
Three Dog Night- . No one is sure whether it originated in the Australian outback or the northern reaches of North America with the Eskimos. The meaning, however, is quite clear. The phrase is a rudimentary nightly temperature gauge. Dogs huddled with humans at night for the warmth. On really cold nights, three dogs were called into the bed to keep the owner from freezing to death.

Thanks for that point of interest! I know from experience that sleeping with dogs helps one bond with them, especially on cold nights.

My pleasure. I remembered bits and pieces of this song from the 70s, so it was good to revisit and get a better grip on those lyrics. I’m glad you like it.

I vaguely remember hearing this song before. You’re right, very smooth and powerful lyrics. …side note – we saw Three Dog Night in concert way back in the 70s, in Oklahoma City. Don’t remember if they sang this one, but they sure were good performers! π
