All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter

This is my offering for Song Lyric Sunday on the theme of precious metal/stones or jewelry. I know it’s not a song, but it’s one of my favorite poems from one of my favorite movies. And there is some music in the video.

All that is gold does not glitter

Not all those who wander are lost.

The old that is strong does not wither.

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the Ashes a fire shall be woken.

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken.

The crownless again shall be king.

                                                                JRR Tolkien

  3. Ooh, Hobbits, Elves, Tolkien’s poetry and New Zealand scenery! Thank you!

  4. You weren’t the only one who went the J.R.R. Tolkien route. He’s perfectly brilliant and this poem is lovely. Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. A great message, JoAnne… Something to think about while appraisal season comes to an end

  6. This includes one of my favourite lines …. “Not all those who wander are lost”.
