Enduring Friendship

Girlfriends.

Months go by, even years

With little or no contact

Yet, we pick up the threads

Of our enduring tapestry

And weave magic.

I’m in Mississippi this week for a reunion with three girlfriends from high school. It’s magic how we re-connect with ease after so long. It’s like we were never apart.

Even if I don’t connect as much this week with my blogging friends, you are dear to me, too.

  1. Beautiful poem. Having a friend or friends that you can come home to is so comforting. it gives us feeling of belonging. I have a friend Arlene for over fifty years and it is the same with us. We won’t see each other for years, yet when we do connect it seems like we were just together yesterday. I wrote a blog about our friendship on my blog, you might want to take a look at it.
I enjoyed this post it reminded me of my friend, I must remember to call her. Thank you for sharing,

  2. You perfectly described the bond with old friends 🙂 Enjoy the reunion!

  3. I love how you captured something that I find to be very special and meaningful in my life, particularly as someone who tends to be a bit introverted as well. It’s wonderful to see a friend you haven’t seen in a while and when you connect, you simply carry on from where you were before. There’s something really beautiful and powerful in that sort of connection and you paid tribute to it beautifully in this poem. Love, Harlon

    • These comforting friendships are particularly meaningful those of us who tend toward introversion. To feel safe, being able to relax and be yourself, is a blessing. Thanks, Harlon. ❤

  4. Oh, so nice to know that others have experienced that surprising bond from early friendships. Love your words!

  6. The paintings are extra special and meaningful, too. 🙂
