“Who knows what the tide could bring?”

I’ve probably watched Castaway 10 times over the years. This line near the end of the movie gave me hope during the lonely nights when I felt cast away. We can not know the future. But we can hold the vision of our hopes and dreams in front of us as we put one foot in front of the other and pray for direction.

And then there are times when we just wait to see what the tide brings. It could bring a greater gift than we ever imagined.

Here’s the monologue about not giving up. The final crossroads scene offered after this one is pretty good, too.

  1. Very good way to think about things. Also, that is one of my favorite movies! πŸ™‚

  2. Good point: Our expectations may be small compared to what the tide provides as a gift.

  3. Yep. It’s all about surrender and seeing what the universe brings our way.

I’m re-blogging this one-liner Wednesday post, which I know I posted yesterday, because disappeared from where I posted it. When I searched for it by title, I found it with the publish date as September 27, 2015! Comments are still from yesterday and it’s still in Linda’s comments from yesterday. Strange. No, I’m not losing my mind! Has anything like this ever happened to you?
