Summer wanes…
Rustling leaves whisper:
Change is coming…
Time to take inventory.
What do I need?
What’s most important?
What dreams can I grab by the collar,
And haul up from the depths,
To save the rest of my life?
It’s late in the game.
There’s still time left,
But the clock is ticking.
What do we need?
What’s most important?
What dreams can we weave together
In a giant safety net
To save our only planet?

A wake up call – is it time to dream still? Politicians speak of dreams, to save them doing anything as the planet is despoiled, and as the people stay locked, unfulfilled within the past empty gestures of their leaders. Is it not time to act?

Certainly, Hariod. What dreams can we weave together to act on? is my hope. We can also act as individuals. We can do our part in our own way, whether that is political action, writing, recycling, reducing our use of resources, protesting, encouraging, etc. What action do you suggest?

We have to act in accord with our legislature and governing bodies, of course JoAnna. It is not yet time for anarchy, although it may be in future. So, the first step is not to elect those who put corporate interests ahead of the environment, and ahead of the welfare of the citizens they putatively lead. Political pressure must be exerted too, and global citizen networks, most notably Occupy, are well-placed to manifest when required. There protests will be crushed by state institutions, again, yet they have power – the transformative power of the collective citizenry. All of the activities you cite need organising and effecting too. Politicians with vested interests must be exposed, and please – please America – do not vote for Trump as your next president. That would be a disaster for the entire world. Why not look into what Bernie Sanders has to offer instead?

I can relate to this posting on so many levels – for me as well, there is something about this time of year when I feel the need to take “stock” of my life and think about the future and am I ready for it. I like how you weaved together the personal introspection with the external – our relationship with nature. Peace, Harlon

Thank you, Harlon. I’m glad you can relate. I can definitely relate to the question: Am I ready? It feels good to be understood. It gives me courage, knowing I am not alone with these questions.

One step at a time, in peace.

Oh yes! We are facing a drought this year in many parts of India – already started rationing water supply in some of the bigger cities. The farmer is ready to throw in the towel. It is gloomy, but the administration is only focussed only on politics!

I wish I could send some rain to those who need it, but it has been unusually dry here this week. Take care, Praj!
